About Invite Design
My name is Assunta and I am the founder of Invite Design, a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter and a chocaholic. My history as a designer started way back when I was a little girl, obsessed with drawing and using my Scholastic ‘The Lettering Book’, and as I got a bit older, enjoyed sketching new and innovative (read : scary!) outfits, convinced I was going to be the next big thing in fashion.
After high school, I spent the next 2 years studying the art of taking photographs, convinced I was going to be the next big thing in photography. Alas, that train sailed. I spent a number of years doing in-house design work for different companies, and the more mundane the 9 to 5 work became, the more my desire for creative freedom grew. Designing and creating my own wedding stationery was the cherry on the bowl of delicious ice cream that was my life at the time, and I haven’t looked back since.
MY LIFE:
I have been blessed with a very supportive husband, who also has a background in design, and sometimes has to pitch in and get his hands dirty and assist when things are crazy busy with work. I have two gorgeous children, who allow me the freedom to work from home and provide me with plenty of opportunities to create cute pieces of stationery for various occasions.
HOW IT STARTED:
I began Invite Design in 2006, after many years of giving and receiving beautiful, and sometimes quirky, high quality stationery. As a recent newlywed myself, I was especially drawn to the wedding market after finding it so difficult to shop for unique, high quality invitations, at reasonable prices. Word of mouth has kept me in business ever since. Apparently, people really like my work {testimonials}
HOBBIES:
In my spare time, when I’m not chasing after the kids or helping with homework, I like to work on Invite Design. Really, it is my true passion and my hobby as well as my day job. I also love crafting, anything retro or vintage, listening to old records while I work, trawling through my favourite blogs and spending time with my little family.
